This is a one week stay at the Kona Coast Resort on the big island of Hawai’i during the 2009 Ironman Competition. (10/10/2009) The Resort is located within walking distance of the first “turn around” and “relief station”. It is possible to be on one of the teams which pass out water, ice shavings, bananas, candy bars, etc. for the runners as they pass. It is also a first aid station in case of heat stress problems, injuries, etc. This may be a once in a lifetime experience, or it may be an event that becomes addictive, and you have to go every year.
The Kona Coast Resort is a truly beautiful place to be any time. During the Ironman competition. Rooms on the island are impossible to get. This is your chance! You’ll enjoy the relaxing laid-back nature of Hawai’i in this one bedroom condo.
