VISITOR INFORMATION (OAHU)
If you are visiting and not familiar with Oahu you may have a few concerns.
1. The taxes seem high. The general excise tax is 4.712% of your rental cost and the Transient Accommodation tax is 7.25%. Any fluctuation of this amount is illegal. If you are not required to pay this, the rental agent may not be paying it either, making it an illegal vacation rental. This is not your problem unless the reservation is cancelled.
2. Security Deposits must be returned to the tenant minus any damage charges. By Hawaii state law it must be postmarked no later than 14 days from your departure.
3. If you are coming to Waikiki you might be interested to know how far from the beach you actually are. The Ala Wai canal is too dirty to swim in and as far from the beach as possible inside Waikiki. It is an area designed for residents not tourists. Some greedy property owners illegally rent personal Ala Wai residences to the tourists asking them to claim to be “visiting family” etc.
4. If you are looking for a beachfront rental you will want to know if the beach is actually swimmable or rocky and just for looks. Also some beaches have powdery white sand while others have coarse, dirty and rocky sand. During winter months our North Shore big waves are exciting to observe. Please do not get adventurous and test them. Larger sets come from nowhere and can swallow you up. Any wet area can be dangerous. Also slow moving mopeds and bike rentals are a conflict of interest on the road. Locals are trying to to get places on time while tourists may be going at a slower pace in the same traffic lanes. Many accidents occur that are not highly publicized.
5. You may have noticed “legal and illegal” terms for rentals. This can affect you if the State were to enforce the law. Although it hasn’t happened yet there is a remote chance your reservation could be cancelled. About half the Waikiki Ads are legal if within one block to the beach and deemed a “condotel”. Most of the Ads outside of Waikiki in private homes are not legal rentals.
6. DEFINITIONS:
“2 Blocks from the beach” = It is as far away from the ocean as you can get while still being in Waikiki. You will probably be on the polluted Ala Wai Canal.
“One City Block”= It is two blocks.
“Cozy” or “Charming”= The place is small.
“Parking Available” = You will have to pay extra for parking.
“High Floor” = Long elevator waits.
“Studio or Suite” = It is smaller than a one bedroom.
“Heart of Waikiki” or “Center of Waikiki” or “centrally located”= It is far from the beach.
7. Buyer Beware. Take caution with adds that give detailed description but never a picture. They want you to send your email address and other personal information without even letting you know what their place looks like. They could be collecting email addresses to sell to spammers. There is usually a very good reason a picture is omitted. Remember…a picture tells a thousand words so why go to so much trouble to avoid the pics???

YES! White powdery sand beach just 30 steps from the condo. This is a true one bedroom that sleeps four to six comfortably. It is not one of those studios with a small bed niche that others in the building (Pats at Punaluu) try to pass off as a one bedroom. This unit is the ground floor corner unit, the most preferred location. All visitors have agreed that this unit is the best located one. It has a Deluxe King bed with pillowtop mattress in the bedroom, a full size “top of the line” futon couch which is more comfortable than a bed (at a cost of more than $400 for the futon mattress alone), 2 single futons and even an extra full size king air mattress with pump and lots of extra linens. There is a Pentium IV computer in the bedroom that has unlimited high speed internet access and Wi-Fi for your laptops. The unit is stocked with quality snorkeling equipment, quality Boogie boards, movie video library and even books. There is a full kitchen with large refrigerator, stove/oven, pots, pans, dishes and silverware, paintings of ocean and ocean life, track lighting in both front and back rooms, acrylic glass set, microwave containers, knife set, ‘patio set with cushions …..Also deluxe toaster oven w/rotisserie, automatic rice cooker, 2 color TVs, VCR, DVD Player, Panasonic microwave, coffee maker and grinder, Kenmore washer/dryer, remote phone, leather Recliner chair and clock radio/CD player in the bedroom.
You will enjoy visiting because part of the time you have the white sandy beach completely to yourself (Yes it is always safe). The area (Hauula) is on the opposite side of the island from the airport and Waikiki. About 45 minutes to an hour drive. It is not far from the Polynesian Cultural Center (about a 10 min.drive). The city bus line picks up directly in front of the unit. Sunset Beach is about 15 minutes away.
Baywatch Hawaii was filmed about 25 minutes away in Haleiwa and North Shore on FOX was filmed 20 minutes away in the same direction. “Lost” is presently filming in Waialua past Haleiwa. Foodland Supermarket is a major chain in Hawaii and has one ten minutes away. The building is eight stories high. Avoid lengthy elevator waits on your vacation. It is thirty steps to a white secluded sandy beach. The ocean is calm because of a reef 1/4 mile out which blocks the waves. It is perfect for kids to enjoy snorkeling and swimming. The building has amenities like professional Bar-b-que area, gym with sauna, swimming pool next to your unit and sunning area behind your unit. Your parking stall is included and located right in front of the unit.
This is the ground floor, corner unit. This is the preferred size and location. The unit extends from one end of the building to the other and measures approximately 850 sq. ft. My old rate was $174 per night with discounts for longer stays. I have changed my booking procedure in order to keep the beach condo booked almost and dropped the price to $129 for any amount of time except the Holiday period from December 15 to January 15. This is a temporary special rate. Rate is based on occupancy for four people. Please add $14 per person per night after four people.

This is all ocean view and on the ground floor so there are no steps to negotiate. And yes, your parking stall is provided at no extra charge directly in front of the unit. The free local telephone service will save money compared to hotels.

10/05/08 Positive What a wonderful condo for us to enjoy on our very first trip to Hawaii in September this year. Very nicely decorated, very clean and within 30 steps to the beach, where the water was absolutely beautiful & calm. Everyday we practically had the beach to ourselves, where we made use of the snorkling equipment provided. We saw many different beautiful schools of fish, a morey eel & a sea turtle one day. We enjoyed sitting out on the lanai every morning to have our breakfast and enjoy the view. If you turn right out of the condos, you can enjoy a very nice 30 minuite drive to Sunset Beach and watch the surfers. Another 15 minutes or so to we were at Haleiwa with its cool atmosphere, plenty of nice restaurants and shops. We loved driving to Waikiki and shopping at the International Market.
There is just so much to do, but the best thing is you get to come home to such a great relaxing place.

07/31/08 Positive Our family had a wonderful seven day visit at the condo. Before arriving, we were a little concerned about finding comfortable accommodations for all six of us. Upon arriving we were pleased to find that there was plenty of room and bedding for all.
Everything was as described on the website. Boogie boards and snorkeling equipment were great and everyone was able to find equipment that fit! Kitchen was well stocked with utensils, spices and basics. Pool, patio area and beach were only steps away. (Great area for snorkeling and calm beach for the kids.) Computer with internet was a big help. Always felt safe on the beach and in the neighborhood.
We were a little apprehensive before arriving because we had found the condo on the internet. We are now totally thrilled with the rental. Emmanuel always responded quickly when we had questions or concerns prior to our arrival. He also checked in by phone during our stay to be sure all was ok. 07/02/08 Positive Fantastic! This condo is right on the beach. I love the three dining tables with umbrellas adjacent to the swimming pool area. I didn’t get a sunburn and I was out in the sun for 2 days on the beach. I had a nice glass of wine and some snacks at the tables as the sun set on the beautiful beach. The water is calmer early in the morning. I found the afternoon surf and undertow quite strong. I would recommend swimming in the morning if possible. The condo was great. Highly recommended.

As past guests have commented, we too were a little hesitant renting on line but you can rest assured, it is exactly as described in print and in pictures. This truly was THE BEST unit in the building. You cannot get any closer to the beach, which had no more than 6 people on it at any given time. The sunrises were amazing and Mr. Chen supplies you with everything you could possibly need for a really enjoyable holiday. The King size bed was sooo comfortable! This is definitely the place to stay for a quiet, relaxing time. We look forward to our return next year. Mahalo!

It was wonderful to have plenty of boogie boards, masks, snorkels, coolers, etc. to use. We also made use of the washer and dryer and DVD player. Anyone would be very comfortable staying here, and the beach is AWESOME. Thank you Mr. Chen. By the way, we did receive our full deposit back, which also was great.

02/25/08 Positive My husband and I just got back from a glorious week at Emanuel’s condo on the lovely windward coast. If you are looking for a quiet, empty, beautiful beachfront place,this is it. The condo is simple but very clean, and well-stocked. We have our own snorkeling gear, but he does stock the place with lots of stuff if you don’t. There are beach chairs, boogie boards, and lots of videos, books, etc. (we never used those once!) The beach is safe for kids, because it’s protected by the reef 1/2 mile (?) away, but it’s also great for snorkeling. I saw a 400-500 lb. sea turtle a few hundred feet out toward the reef. There are plenty of fish and sealife! Many of the people are retired residents and very friendly. Even Ken, the caretaker/gardener, was super helpful with snorkel/travel tips. The north shore waves/ Haleiwa town is about 20-30 mins. north, and Kaneohe Bay about the same distance south. This is NOT the place if you like to party, drink, club and have Waikiki style beaches and fancy accomodations. We never saw more than 7-8 people at a time on the entire stretch of beach. Also, the washer/dryer is very convenient- you go home with clean laundry! I was worried renting off of craigslist, but it really worked out.

01/01/08 Positive We just got home (12/31/07) from a one week stay at Mr. Chen’s condo. Everything from start to finish was a wonderful experience!! He is very quick to respond to your emails and I was very impressed to get a personal phone call from him before our arrival.
It was a pleasant drive from Honolulu and I could do it like I lived there after a couple of days. The weather did not quite work in our favor to partake in all of the beach gear, but we definitely want to try again when it is not Winter.
Everything was fabulous and it felt like home. Would never stay in a hotel when the beach is right outside the door. Who could ask for anything more! It made our first trip to Hawaii very enjoyable and much more relaxing with a 1 year old and his 8 year old sister!

11/03/07 Positive Wow, what a great place. Thank you Emmanuel for a great vacation. The condo accomodated all 5 of us, 4 adults and 1 two year old. The condo was completely stocked with everything you need for a beach holiday, snorckles, boogy boards, even plenty of beach toys for the kids. Kitchen is fully stocked for creating a great meal. Beds are comfortable and linens are fresh and clean. It was good to have a washer and dryer in the unit. The location is perfect, just steps from the very secluded beautiful white sand beach. Never saw more than 2-4 people on the beach at a time. The pool, is also just outside the door. This place is great for sleeping, you can hear the ocean waves breaking all day and night. So nice to get up in the morning and have your coffee just steps from the beach. The time of year we went, October, the weather is perfect. The location to outside activities is perfect. The Polyesian Cultural Center is just minutes away. The North Shore to watch surfers is just a 10 minute drive. The super market is also just minutes away. The little store, Kaya’s, just across the street and down a bit is a perfect spot to pick up small items and a lovely little walk. All the amenities of the big city in a small rural town. If you like a beach vacation, but don’t like the city life, crowds and traffic, then this condo at Pat’s at Punaluu is the perfect place. We will be back.

08/20/07 Positive I just wanted to say I really enjoyed my stay at the condo. It was a tough life. Getting up, drinking my coffee, walking 2 minutes to the small store down the way and buying the paper. Then a little walk on the beach, snorkeling and reading on the beach for the rest of the day. Being on the first floor and in the corner unit made everything convenient and noiseless. The weather was great and when it rained it was just brief spurts. This was the best way to visit Hawaii and your unit lacked for nothing. I’m so glad I found your place.

Kids loved the boogie boards. The beach was right there, perfect location. We

The condo was very clean, airy and extremely
comfortable. It was also stocked with all sorts of
swim equipment; fins, goggles, masks and boogie
boards. It made a huge difference to have a
turnkey furnished apartment to come home to at
the end of a busy day instead of a cramped hotel
room.
I was a little nervous about renting over the
internet, but Mr. Chen made the process a very
positive experience. He was professional,
communicative and friendly. I must say, that the
level of service and customer care he provided is
very hard to find these days. When we had
problems with the microwave, Mr. Chen arranged
for a replacement within 2 hours. My son still is
talking about his new friend Emmanuel who took
such good care of us.
The beach is literally 80 feet from the condo’s front
door. It is also very calm water. We were able to
swim here when the current at some of the North
Shore beaches was too rough. We never had to
share the beach with more than three of four
people and the gorgeous mountain backdrop was
way more impressive than the Waikiki hotel skyline.
I highly recommend this condo. The price is hard
to beat and you definitely get well beyond your
money’s worth. We will be back next summer, if
not sooner.

03/08/07 Positive We rented the unit in Hauula, Oahu February 21 – March 1, 2007 and had a wonderful time. The unit was fine for all of us and the beach was absolutely beautiful for adults and children alike. It was convenient being located on the ground floor with access to the pool and shower nearby, not to mention being 100 feet from the beach! The two grocery stores in Laie were just a few minutes drive away and had a good selection. We particularily enjoyed the variety of poke available! All we read and the pictures we saw on the website are accurate – a real gem!
Hopefully, we’ll be able to travel to Hawaii again soon!

This air-conditioned one bedroom executive condominium has lots of upgrades and additions. This is not one of those rentals that advertise close to beach but are actually on the Ala Wai Canal. Kalakaua is where all the major hotels are one block to the beach. The unit is equipped with a Pentium IV computer that allows high speed internet access and Wi-Fi for your laptops. This is an immaculate one bedroom that sleeps four to five comfortably. It has a Deluxe King bed in the bedroom and a very comfortable sleeper couch bed with lots of extra linens. There is also a single futon with linens for a fifth person. This suite has been stocked with X Box & games and a movie video library. It boasts a full kitchen with brand new refrigerator, stove/oven, pots, pans, rice cooker, dishes and silverware. Also deluxe Sharper Image T-Fal toaster, heavy duty blender, 2 color TVs, 2 stereos(CD & Tape), 2 VCRs, 2 DVD Players, Panasonic microwave, tea pot, coffee maker and grinder, 2 remote phones, 2 smoke alarms, iron and ironing board, large vacuum w/hand vacuum,and alarm clock radio/CD player in the bedroom.
The unit is on the second floor and easily accessible by stairs or elevator….just 5 steps from the elevator and parking. You will enjoy visiting because of your proximity to the beach, (Hilton Hawaiiian Village Beach Resort and Spa) and ocean activities, shopping (Ala Moana Shopping Center), grocery store (The Food Pantry), night life, restaurants and of course the new Hawaii Convention Center. Nearby activities: Golf, Tennis, Fishing, Wildlife Viewing, Shopping, Restaurants, Live Theater, Cinemas, Museums, Sightseeing, Swimming, Snorkeling & Diving, Boating, Sailing, Surfing, Windsurfing, Parasailing, Jet Skiing, Shelling. The unit is one block to the beach and (Waikiki) is just 25 minutes from the airport.
HOW TO GET TO THE BEACH FROM THE CONDO: Go out the front of the building and Right at the sidewalk to the corner. Turn Right at the corner without crossing the street. At the next corner you will be adjacent to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa. Just cross the street.

We had a fantastic time at the condo. Everything was clean and handy. It’s nice to have free internet service. I’ve never seen so many electronic gadgets, everything from tvs, vcrs, dvds,x-boxes, and at least a half a dozen cd machines. This is a great location….walking distance to beaches and great restaurants. We loved Keo’s (Thai restaurant) and Cheeseburger, right around the corner. I would also recommend the Cheesecake Factory and Duke’s next door. We will probably be contacting you again, but this time, I going to bring a smaller car.

11/19/07 Positive Clean and well-equippted condo which was perfect for the two of us on our first visit to Hawaii. Bus stop is across the street, but the basement garage allowed us freedom to travel and feel safe also. 09/04/07 Positive We stayed at this condo for 10 days, our first visit to Hawaii. It was a wonderful experience for us. Besides being very clean and having all the amenities, it is a few steps from the bus stop and a short walk to the large and beautiful Hilton complex on the beach. All the comforts of home. We were also able to save some money by having breakfast in the condo when we wanted to. The the Eggs and Things on the first floor was wonderful too.

It had everything we needed, and allowed us to cook our own meals! The kids loved the computer and x box and the location was excellent for beaches and shopping. 09/12/06 Positive We had 3 adults, 2 kids and a toddler, and the condo fit us all comfortably (a hotel would have made us get 2 rooms at a premium price). It had all the ammenities, especially high-speed interent. Eggs ‘N Things located downstairs was “egg-cellent” (try the Spam and eggs). The condo was close to everything and it came with a parking space which is helpful in a town with practically no street parking. Thank you, Emmanuel for being a gracious host! He gave us tips on where to go since we were first-timers on the island. We enjoyed our stay and we will be back!

Elevator was a plus on those exhausted days! 2 TVs, internet access, AC and fans, tons of closet/dresser space, a *clean* washroom, microwave, oven… Only thing to make it better would be a dish washer, but since you eat out so much anyway, didn’t make much of a difference!
Would definitely return and recommend to friends. Emmanuel’s even helping me retrieve photos that got lost on his desktop, 5 days after the fact! Very gracious host!

Centrally located for walking, or driving, complete with private parking included in the price. Eggs and Things on the ground floor was reported to be the best in Honolulu, and it certainly was. Food and staff were excellent. Within walking distance are other fine restaurants, shopping and beaches. What more could you ask?

The location close to the convention center was ideal for us since we were attending a convention during part of our stay. 07/05/05 Positive This place was perfect for our first time visit. Especially since we did the tourist thing and everything was walking distance for us. Or we just got in our rental car and drove. Everything was easy access whether by car or foot. Having internet accessibility was even a great plus since we are all hooked on email these days. My 18 year old son especially liked the nintendo games… and that made us all happy when we were tired. Haha! Next time we would like to do the beach front property!!!!

Very clean Condo and have lots of minor items that you might have forgotten already there. Mr Chen is excellent in giving update and safe attraction area, hey also free attraction too. Always making sure he is available when needed. Also parking is a big plus,and to whom ever read this comment it is worth the price cause I even have family living in Oahu Island and even them said I had a excellent deal for the price I pay for. For the wandering mind I didn’t want to inconvenience my family, that’s why I didn’t stay with them(need space).Again Mr Chen I had a excellent time and I really enjoy your Condo and you have made us feel welcome as is was our home.

We completed a FULL renovation in January 2006 where no surface was left untouched. The entire unit was demolished and rebuilt as new, with a new kitchen, two new bathrooms, all new appliances and new fixtures. Plus, we floored the entire unit with luxurious oversized Italian porcelain tile.
Our Kihei Ali’i Kai two bedroom, two bath condo is a large, 945 square foot, end unit that opens onto a lush, undeveloped tract of land affording an amazing amount of solitude. With two separate lanais, one for the main living area and one for the master suite, its quite well designed to accommodate larger groups. This is a TRUE two bedroom, two bathroom condo with double lanai frontage and NOT merely an open loft over a one bedroom, one bathroom layout.
The Kihei Ali’i Kai is a nice, quiet complex with pool, spa and tennis courts. Our unit is near the pool and only about 150 yards from Kama’ole Beach Park I and the Pacific Ocean. We have a king bed in the master suite, a queen in the second bedroom and a proper queen-sized sleeper sofa in the main living area. Also, we offer twin or full-size portable floor mattresses for extra guests. Our condo is newly furnished with a big screen TV in the living room and 24 inch flat screen TVs in both bedrooms. All three are equipped with VCR and DVD players. We provide a full sized washer/dryer set right in the unit. Plus, there is a powerful 24,000 BTU A/C unit in the living room and another brand new 10,000 BTU unit dedicated to the master bedroom suite. As a bonus, there are boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, plenty of beach towels and many other odds and ends already in the condo so you don’t need to buy or rent this stuff while out here.
We do also provide FREE BROADBAND INTERNET complete with a computer or, of course, you are welcome to use our WiFi connection if you prefer to bring your own !
